Can PVCs occassionally cause very brief but sharp chest pain?

I've had PVCs on and off for 20 years.  Does anyone know if they sometimes (and when I say sometimes I mean rarely) cause a very pronounced/noticeable, sharp, quick (1 second) pain right in the middle of the chest (sternum) area?

I googled this and couldn't find much.  I did find a couple cardiologist talking about how it can happen but I'm not sure they meant the PVC actually causing the type of pain I was talking about---since they were talking in general, not to me per se.

In my experience, the hot flash and quick sweat are little bitty, instantaneous panic attacks. I don't even have time to register the PVCs consciously before the hot flash occurs. It's probably the so-called 'primitive brain' racing ahead and basically saying, "Whoa!  What's up with THAT?"

But generally, scary as garden-variety PVCs feel, they are medically insignificant.

I've had PVCs my whole life.  I can remember feeling them all the way back to when I was 5 or 6.  When I got into my 40s I've had bouts of 6,000+ per day.  I recall having painful ones here and there but never really thought anything of it.

It all depends on the timing of the PVC.  The atria are usually in the middle of contracting during a PVC and this causes a bit of a hydraulic shock within your heart.  Many different sensations can occur depending on the timing of the PVS and we're talking milliseconds of variation.  There are also a lot of other issues that can cause short, sharp, chest pain most of which are skeletal muscle issues.

hi,

i get PVCs almost daily, for over thirty years and usually no chest pain associated with it. However, I get chest pain from various conditions - GERD, Hiatal Hernia,
spinal angina - impinged nerves in my neck and spine that can mimic angina pain. I would get checked out by a cardiologist to ease my concern. Also, a GI could be of some help. Sometimes the GI track can cause some chest pain. PVCs are a real drag, i can relate. hope you feel better soon.

best to you
