I'm an active 16 year old female, and recently noticed that I had an extremely high heart rate for my body.
About a month ago, I started taking a drug called gabapentin for my headaches. A few weeks ago I felt very nervous, almost like I was having an anxiety attack but not as extreme. I could feel my heart racing so I decided to measure my heart rate, which was 103 at the time. I didn't think much of it, because at the time I was experiencing a few side effects from my medication and thought this could be one of them. However, I monitored my heart rate for the next few weeks and nothing has changed. Every time I measure it, it's 105-115. This alarms me because all of my other side effects have worn off and this one hasn't changed at all. Also, this past week I noticed I lost four pounds without diet or exercise. I do lose weight pretty easily, but I just thought this was strange. Also, when I looked up my symptoms, some of them matched hyperthyroidism. I also know my mom has severe thyroid issues. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
