Beta Blockers for the Blocked

Hi All,
I'm given Atenolol for supraventricular extra beats but it was also found that I have a second degree type 1 (Wenchebach) block. Additionally, my dad has a left branch bundle block. Both the LBBB and Wenchebach are suposedly pretty routine and benign. But I also read that Atenolol is contraindicated for anyone with any blocks above first degree.
Can anyone give any color on this?
Also, I'm concerned that I get longer-than-normal pauses on the downbreath. It skips at least one beat on the downbreath when I take the Atenolol and sometimes when I do not. It makes my heart rate go down to 38bpm which is about 10 below normal when I'm relaxed (although my resting can be 90 if I'm stressed or on edge or dehydrated).
Thanks much,
A
