Help!!! Heart Rate 170-180's

My husband (39) went to the ER yesterday with a migrane & feeling lightheaded. When he arrived his heartrate was in the 180's. They gave him some IV meds to slow his rate which was unsuccessful so they had to give him something else.  The kept him overnight to monitor him and do an EKG this morning. I am unable to be with him as I missed (4) days of work last week due to surgery.  I am very scared, and still haven't heard anything.  I have called but he tells me the doctors are still in there talking with him.  We just got married a week and a half ago and I am afraid something really bad is happening to him.  What can cause your heart rate to be so high? Now that I look back, I think this has been going on for awhile.  I can remember a few episodes where he got dizzy and almost collapsed, but didn't. Any advise would help.

after bypass it could be any number of things.  One of the more common is atrial fib.  My husband had quadruple bypass last year and he went into afib the 2nd day after surgery.  He converted to NSR after about 24 hours and was fine thereafter.  It is very scary, I know.
