He's probably referring to the fact that a low EF gives poor prognosis if he develops a ventricular rhythm issue. A lot of people that have low EF's are candidates for ICD implants even in the absence of documented arrhythmia.
Thanks for ur reply. I just want to know that I sd remain on medicinal t/m or sd also use combo device for prevention against sudden collapse due to arrythmia
I agree w. Jerry on this one because i know "I" am not catching something here. Your EF determines the strength that blood flow enters and leaves the heart in a measurement and whether it is adequate...an ICD on the other hand is used as a tool to detect a rhythm that is not normal and basically shocks it back into the proper sequence. The ICD's primary function is to kick in when it detects a serious rhythm issue....and shocks it back....so where is this question coming from? Are you thinking that it will help you in elevating your EF? The best thing to do for a low EF is lifestyle changes as well as meds a doc can give you to help you along the way....and mostly to follow his/her advice................................
I think "we" don't understand your question. Your EF is low, but I can't relate that to an ICD as a treatment. There may be some treatment to increase EF, but I don't know of it if there is.
If your EF is stable and your are not short of breath or dizzy, then I'd say you should be able to live with it with little or no decrease in the quality of life.
