What can you tell from an EKG

Momto3 suggested I pose this question... I was wondering if they can tell what is causing the SVT from the EKG.  I have MR and PVC and it has been annually monitored for 3 years now. I have one situation (it did scare **** out of me when they couldn't get it to stop) of SVT (that I know of) and off they are sending me to the EP (like my use of the Acronym, Momto3?) for an ablation.  I just wondered if they may have seen something on the EKG that is making this determination for them.

Thanks!

I have NO faith in EKG's.  Both my husband and I had EKG's which showed a previous heart attack.  We had to go through all kinds of tests just to prove we NEVER had one.  Even though the EKG's after the one who showed the previous heart attacks were normal.  Forget that.  Never again, unless its an emergency, and we have no choice.  Or the EKG is an old fashioned one and not a computerized one where  the technicians cannot figure our "why" these machines spit out false heart attacks.  The Cardiologist I saw said and I quote "I am sick and tired of all these false heart attacks".

i think on ekg they can tell where everything is coming from, be it  atrial or ventricular, but not what is causing them...   if it is coming from something like an accessory pathway, such as WolfeParkinsonWhite, or from another source, the best way to determine that would be from an EP study, unless there is another reason that is known beforehand that was determined via echo, transephogeal echo, or cardiac MRI  hope this little bit helps,  good luck         dawn
