Racing Heart tingling head?

For the past 6 weeks my heart will suddenly race and I have shortness of breath most of the time.  Today, my heart starting racing and wouldn't stop and then i got this tingling in the back of my skull and had a major issue with breathing.  It lasted about 20 minutes and then i had an issue with concentration and was exhausted to the point of not being able to move.

My heart has been tested (wore a holter monitor) and shows a rapid heartbeat, but otherwise fine.  All this started a year ago when I went from being healthy to everything shutting down in my body and they thought it was my thyroid, vitamin d and diet.  I changed my diet, started exercising, dropped 40 pounds and quit smoking (for a year now); any suggestions on what to do next?  Not sure my regular doc has a clue at this point

Hi i read your post....i am not surprised that your regular doc doesn't have a clue because the heart is not their specialty.  You will definately want a referral to a good heart doc in your area so that they can provide the appropriate tests for you.  You want to deal w. a doc that all they deal with is the heart and nothing else if you are suffering from rapid heart beat,, shortness of breath and feeling wiped out after the incidents happen which is not that uncommon w. what you are posting in the way of symtoms.  The lack of concentration goes hand in hand with you not getting enough oxygen which is where the shortness of breath comes in as well as the tingling that you are feeling in your head.  All of these symtoms together make alot of sense to me that they would go hand in hand and the only true way to find out what is happening to you is having a work up done by a cardiologist...we can all guess but it won't be worth anything because the doc has to do process of elimination in diagnosing.  I too have gone thru what you did and it was diagnosed as atrial fib which i had taken care of and is now a thing of the past...make the appt. don't go to your family doc for the matters of the heart...go to a doc that that is all they deal with....keep us posted but what you are feeling to me is almost text book......
