Persistent afib and ablation

Forgive me for asking again if I have already asked but having trouble following posts and replies.  Has anyone out there have/had persistent afib? Did ablation help? At this point I'm not even asking about cure but wanting to know if the ablation changes the severity.....it only makes sense that it would. My ablation was extensive but told most likely will need more.  Most of you talk about svt but no one talks about ever having persistent....am I confused?

Also, after you have logged in at the top of the page find the MyMedHelp menu and go into it.  It has access to all your messages and previous posts as well.

Hi Eliza, did you check your messages under your profile?  I sent you a couple of notes.  One to connect you to a forum with lots of persistent AF folks.

You are asking the right questions.  SVT and Afib are very different and some people have both (around 20% of AF folks also have right sided flutter for example).  Ablation help relieve symptoms s in the vast majority of cases, "cure - completely off meds" rates range from 50-high80s% depending on the center's experience.  SVT cure rates are in the 90s in comparison.  AF is more complex and takes more mapping and navigational skills to ablate.
