Marie, I sent you a message with the names of the books.
Nikgirl28, I would get the SVT about 1-3 times a month. The episodes would last anywhere from under a minute to the longest episode which was an hour and a half.
Betty
Hello...i was just wondering how often did you get your svt...and how long did it last for?
Hi Betty, no I havent read any books written by Claire Weekes, I would appreciate if you could send the names of these books
Many thanks
Marie
Marie,
I hear how upsetting all of this is to you. What has your Dr. told you ? From everything I have read, you don't die from missed beats. I still feel thumps and skips. It sure is annoying. I was told the ablation would cure the SVT but not the thumps and extra beats. My thinking is there are some things we can't control and this is one of them. I am determined to live my life and not let any wierd beats get in the way of being happy. I once read 2 books by Dr. Claire Weekes which were absolutely terrific. I think these would help you. Have you read any books by her? If not, I'll get you the names of them.
Betty
Thankyou Mabebesc for the explanation of an Ablation
I have had the extra beats since I was 30 I am now 59 and am still having problems, and am still frightened everytime I have the extra or missed beats, I wish I could be cured, even being on medication such as Ternormin doesn`t make much difference, my life has become miserable, and I am constantly depressed, I am on antidepressants Avanza to relax me.
Sometimes all I want to do is die, thats how bad this heart thing affects me, it stops me from doing things and being happy, because I always think that the next missed beat is going to be the last.
Marie
I can't say that I have exactly the same thing (I have SVT), but with an event monitor I was able to capture 250 bpm for 10 minutes. My resting heart rate is around 70 bpm. The 10 minute bout was short - I've had them as long as 45-60 minutes. Usually my heart just gets back into rhythm after a while - I've never needed medical help (knock on wood).
Congrats again mabebesc on a successful ablation!
Hey, I am so happy for you! Did your Dr. say anything about the procedure? Dr. told me mine was a "by the book" case. It still took about 3 hours, but it seems for him to say that it must have been exacly where he thought it was and so was easy to remove. Just wondering what yours said. Mine was so weird. It just started 1 day out of the blue. I have MVP so I thought at first this is what was going on, but it wouldn't stop for 45 minutes and only with Ambulance medics help. It was 215. The next week it did it again the same. This time though they had to give me a shot of something to stop my heart and restarted it. So they did the ablation immediately after that one. How did yours present? How fast? Mine was after I had a lot of trauma and stress on my body. I am soooo glad mine is gone and it only happened twice! Did your last that long" Anyone else have it this bad for 45min at 215 bpm and only stop with assistance? So glad you are over it!!! Think positive and don't let worrying make it come back! Celebrate! Yeah!
Cindy
I have to say that I am still waiting for the shoe to drop so to speak. Even though I was told the ablation (which I'll explain shortly) was successful, I still don't feel 100% confident it is gone for good. When I feel a thump, I literally hold my breath and freeze for a second because I get scared the SVT is going to start up. Because I dealt with it for 36 years , I can't easily erase all my fears and anxieties at this point. I think once a good amount of time has gone by , I 'll really begin to feel more relaxed and secure about me being cured. I know that even though I was told it was succcessful, only time will tell for sure.
An ablation is when they burn away the extra electrical pathway or irritable focus in your heart causing the arrythmia. I had AVNRT which is an extra pathway in my atria. They inserted catheters into my groin which went into the heart and then tested my heart until they found the area that was causing the problem. Then they burned that area with one of the specialized catheters. That is it basically. Mariop, I'm so glad you're SVT free now. I know we'll never forget dealing with SVT-let's hope we never have to do it again !!!!!!
Betty
Sorry to be so naive, but, can you explain what an abblation is, as I havent heard of this before.

I guess we all shares in your happiness, simply because we know the misery you suffered. At the same time, I think I would wait a bit longer before a full celebration. I say this because I went through this process four times, each time thinking I had it licked only to feel a week or so later that montrous jerking in my chest. It has been nine months now of no episodes, but I still have a hard time erasing the misery from my memory.
Thanks for your kind words! I still can't believe it's all over. All the worry I put myself through was really for nothing. For anyone considering an ablation, please feel free to ask me any questions. I'll be happy to help you any way I can .
YAY for you!!! My one friend said the same thing. She kept feeling like her SVT was going to start....but it never did. It's been 8 years!
that's great for u i am glad u feeling good and finding new confidence for yourself there's no stopping u now ------
good ,good,all good
Thanks for your updates. I'm schedule for an ablation (EP study) for my SVT at the end of next week. Its encouraging to hear your story and to know that things are going OK for you. I'm hoping that I have the same luck. So I'm happy things are working out for you and thanks again for sharing!!
HOORAY!! Happy to hear the good news!
