Hello...
It is heard to say exactly what you may have experienced. It is definitely something that should be checked out. I had a similar experience with the onset of a rapid atrial fibrillation which is a specific type of SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) I won't say that my vision went black...it was more like a tunnel vision, feeling like I was being sucked into a tunnel, short of breath, tremulous hands, very rapid heart rate.
Can you describe your chest pain? Sharp, dull, tightness, constant, intermittent etc.
Are you attending college away from where you live? If so, I imagine you will be going home for x-mas...If you feel that you can't wait that long, it might not be a bad idea to go to local ER, even if you're told everything is fine, you can then make an appt. with your own Dr to have a complete workup.
I know that you read online that arrhythmias are deadly. This is not completely true. For most, they are more annoying and frightening than lethal.
