I hadn't thought of ear problems really, as I am a paroxysmal atrial fib sufferer and I actually found it quite handy in monitoring frequency and length of episodes. Just a tip to other sufferers - if it causes sleeplessness or anxiety, I have found it very useful to keep a radio with earpieces by the bed and just plug in and listen for a while, even in the middle of the night - it does relax you and gives you something to listen to other than your heart!
Yep, I get the pounding and whooshing...my cardio and PCP have both said it is not my heart, but pressure in the ear that is unstable...another wonderful symptom I get to deal with :)
ps--- In case you dont look at that link, it says it can be a heart problem but can also be harmless. Basically I guess you should read the link and decide for yourself what you feel. I know everyone at times have had that, but theres different types-- a pounding and also a swooshing.
Here is a link about this.

yes, sometimes mine beats so hard it's in both ears and it pounds in my head for some strange reason - that's usually when I'm run down and just done too much, dr's don't know why though
