Palpatations

I have had 2 incidents in the past year that have ended me up in the er. Both incidents were very similar in nature. It started out with continued heart palpations for around 12 hours. Anywhere from 120-180 bpm resting. Both times I had infections, UTI (ONCE) and upper respitory (once), and both times my menstrual cycle started the next day while I was still in the hospital. I have seen several DR. and none can find an exact cause. Some say beacuase of the infection, and anxiety factored in. I have had ekg's, and echo, mri, cat scan, blood work, and urine samples tested. My resting heartrate is a little higher than normal I am 22 and its normally around 88-90. Does anyone know what it could be? Or had a similar experince? They tried putting me on toporol, but I have normal blood pressure and it was lowering it to the point where I would feel faint. I dont want to have further problems so just would like some insight. I just want you to know that you are definitely not alone. I have been dealing with similar symptoms for several years now. Most of the time I can relate them to the asthma medications I take. Although there are times that the palpitations happen even though I haven't used any meds for a long period of time. Were you using any medications that you would not normally use on a regulay basis? Some times we don't think about the adverse affects that certain allergy and cold medications can cause. Just thought I would ask a couple questions. The anxiety that the palps cause I believe makes them worse but it's very difficult to remain calm when these things happen.

No on no meds. since these incidents I take xanax occasinally. Never taken any drugs. Not overweight. I never have caffiene. I wouldnt say I am the most in shape person, I am working on this though. I just am trying to figure out why on a consistent basis my heartrate is higher than normal? I never want to go through another incident like those 2 they were very scary.
