My heart has a goofy beat every so often. When I was 25 the doc listened to my heart and said it was Mitral Valve Prolapse. Well I was having an occasional goofy beat at age 33 and had a full cardio workup. No MVP. Everything was normal and the 24 hour holter logged a rare PVC and PAC. All other heart functions were normal. I am very athletic. My max heart beat is 197 at age 38. Caffeine, Alcohol, Lack of sleep, medications, and a few other things seem to trigger mine. I worried about it at one time in my life, but I haven't killed over dead on a long mountain climb on my bicycle yet. It is best to follow the direction of your doctor. Mine told me there are no restrictions to my activity.
I think most of us get both. One means the irritable area is in the atrial area, the other, the ventricles. None of us can feel a difference when we get them. I think, though, that I KNOW when I am having bigger PVCs. I am sure that having a lot of PACs can be a precursor to a-fib, but not necessarily. I wouldn't look for trouble. I have had tons of them and have never had a-fib. A-fib is not a lethal arrhythmia anyway. They treat it with meds or cardioversion.
Yeah I have now read more and read that in a normal heart PAC and PVC are not dangerous. I hate the internet. One site says that PACs are better to have than PVCs because PVCs can actually turn into VTach. What the heck? So scary. I hate GOOGLE>.....lol!
About 4 years ago, I wore the 24 hours monitor. I felt approximately 5 irregulars, so, I pressed the button. When the cardiologist read the tracings his report was no PVC's and only two PAC's not correlating with the times I pressed the button. He said it was an excellent tracing. So, I do not know the difference in the feel in less the PAC's are a little "softer"
Yeah, Crystal, there are sure lots of conflicting remarks when you do a search on google about these "things" that is why I stick to this forum only, I found it is the best there is and very accurate.
