svt attacks

I was reading most of you have been writing in the forum.I feel the same when my day is ruined bacause i'm scared of a sudden svt. I got a second opinion and it was different from the first cardilogist. Im living totaly unsure of what`s happening to me , consecuenses etc. My cardiologist  said the stress test and ultrasound of my heart are showing no problems and it is healthy. I became  anxius that it could be hapen at any time and have to rush to hospital. They said I was born with this condition but its geting worse with the age. I`m 55 and I think beacuse stress Im more inclined to svt.I`m having anxiety most of the time and I cant go to work because im worried about these atacks. My cardio recomended  Flecainide when the attacks occour or start taking twice a day permanently. I want to know if someone had experience about this drug.

I have read post by people on, and know a couple of people who take, Flecainide to good results.  Some take it for atrial fibrillation, not svt, but I think it is worth a try for either.  It sounds like you really don't have a choice, you must do something to get control of your life back.

I'd "vote for" taking a small does every day over taking one when you have an episode. I note some people do not tolerate medications well and can't take them because of side-effects.. you have to try to learn how they effect you. But, keep in mind, get side effects out of your mind and let them show up on their own, don't create them in the mind.  Many of us have very strong imaginations - mind over matter - and find our minds can make us feel better or worse.

Given the mention of anxiety you may need to treat that too.  Best if you can somehow get a "grip" on the anxiety drivers rather than take medications to suppress them.

Well you are lucky you can take drugs. I can't take any because I also have bradycardia. I'm saving for an ablation that will hopefully rid me of svt. While I mostly try to forget I have svt, it often plays a huge roll in decision making in my life. Just yesterday I went on a boat ride that was about 4 hours long. I was really torn about going on the trip. What would I do if I had an svt attack and I would be trapped on the boat... I just put it out of my mind and went. Nothing happened thankfully and I had a great time. It's not easy but try to stop stressing out and resume your life. Don't let svt control you. You have to trust your doctor and carry on living. You can do it!
