New Heart Problem

Having just got used to the fact that I have been SVT diagnosed, a few days ago, following an echocardiogram, I was told by the specialist that the right side of my heart is enlarged.  He has advised me to cancel my holiday for this year and undergo several diagnostic tests.  I have researched RVH and a lot of it doesn't look good.  I really need to know how seriously to take all this, ie is this life threatening and should I be resting up?  My mother died of cardiac failure in her mid fifties so am wondering if all this could be hereditary.

This is right ventricular hypertrophy, ie enlargement of the right hand side of the heart.  Apparently quite different implications from that of the left side.  Many thanks for replying.

id do what the cardio says personally, you may be putting yourself at risk if you took the holiday, most heart problems are hereditary, you shouldnt read the internet because it will tell you things are ten times worse then what they are, what is RVH?
