There is a risk to almost anything you do in life but in my experience an ablation sounds much worse than the procedure is. In my case I spent just 36 hours in the hospital from start to finish. I had an ablation three weeks ago for Afib and so far so good no more arrhythmias. The worst part of the whole procedure by far was having a bladder catheter installed. The actual ablation was completely non-eventful, if anything it was kind of cool to watch snippets of it on the monitors. I drifted in and out of consciousness and carried on short conversations with people.
I had bruises on my thigh, bruises from my IV and in the weeks since bruises where I injected myself with fragmin. I had a few extra beats, a few skipped beats for days afterwards, as well as one night with an episode of SVT a week after the procedure bad enough to go to emergency. Since then everything has settled down and for the past cople days I haven't noticed any extra beats. I used to have 3 -5 episodes of Afib every day so this is a major improvement.
I certainly would recommend getting an ablation
Ditto..I had my ablation on Feb 11th after two long years of SVT and I could kick myself for not having the ablation sooner. It sounds much worse than what it is. I remember the ER and adenosine push and by far that was more stressful than the ablation...totally painless and minimum to no post ablation issues.
Best Wishes
I had my ablation a mnth ago. It was a very simple and painless procedure. Don't worry, you will be fine and hopefully better.
