Hi,

I do no remember ever having any adverse side effects. Like Artaud posted, it seems to have a good effect, in that it does not slow the Pulse. My Lopressor does do that to me. I have Bradycardia and I may ask my new Cardiologist to put me back on the Acebutolol. PVCs are a part of my makeup. When I get a break in their "cycle", I cherish the relief from the discomfort that they cause. It is nice to be able to share with others out there with this unfortunate type of distress. Just hang in there. These darn PVCs come and go. Best to you

Hello,

I did take it for many years, under the brand name Sectral. It was one of the most effective Beta Blockers I have ever taken. I wish you the best on it.

Yes, I'm on 600 mg per day taken as 200 mg three times a day. He wants me to take 800 mg/day as 400 mg twice a day. Dosage for PVCs is often 400 mg to 1200 mg per day in divided doses.

My PVCs haven't stopped, but they are fewer and I feel them much less then when I was on Atenolol.

Acebutolol and Pindolol are Beta Blockers with ISA (Intrinsic Sympathomimetic Activity) which keeps your heart running at about 5 beats per minute faster than a comparable Beta Blocker without ISA.  This allows the drug to be given in higher doses without slowing the heart too much. The higher doses are more effective in blocking adrenaline.

PCVTOM told me about it, when i suggested it to the E.P. he thought it was a good idea. I've taken Atenolol for years, i had no trouble switching over to Acebutolol.
