I would say you are overtraining, without any other information. Do you wait at least 5 minutes after waking up to check heart rate? Try that. If it is still high, I would say take a day off or less strenuous workout, walking. Try Heart Zones Training.
What do you mean "in the 100s"? Is that between 100 and 110, or is that 200 or more?
