need advice/help started Toperol XL, weaning off flecainide

Hi all!
I started low   dose(12.5) of toperal xl this week. I have bad headache, constant nausea.. don't want to eat anything and heaviness, soreness chest area. Cardiologist told me to stop flecainide but when I called and told him these symptoms he said he thought all these new symptoms were from stopping flecaindie,,, so take 1/2 doses of it. My PCP wanted me off the flecainide, thought it was not a good choice for my situation ( PSVT). ( I am also hypothyroid) I really trust my PCP more than anyone, he knows his stuff.
So how do I wean off the flecainide... cardio has not given me any ideas after I called and aksed...
And will this nausea, headache go away??? He wants me to increase my dose t0 25 mg daily, but I am very reluctant til I get rid of these side effects... The toperol xl is really helping control my heart rate, and anxiety that comes with SVT attacks.
Is there something betterr???? Or now do I have to wean off beta blockers?? What a mess??? I am going crazy so please send helpful advice - please positive stories.. can't handle the negative at this time.
!!Thank you anyone!!

Thanks for your post... I just got off the phone with the cardio's nurse. She said I should be able to stop flecainide without issues... pharmacist said do NOT stop, slowly wean off.  Nurse also said the nausea and headache will probably not go away... great.. and maybe I can not tolerate beta blockers...
??? aren't there lots of other ones to try. Pharmacist said most common side effect is headache and nausea/ for beta blockes. and sometimes XL formula makes it worse for some people.
I agreed to try for at least another week.. praying it gets better because I love the way it keeps my heart rate and palps down.. super!!!  Wish me luck... and thanks for letting me vent!!!
And yes being hypothyroid stinks.... never had any health issues in  my life til my thyroid started acting up... darn it!!!

I am on flecainide now but was on Toperal for a long while. It never gave me any symptoms except fatigue. It is generally pretty well tolerated from the things I have read. I would have to agree with the doctor that it is the flecainide. It is really strong and would need to be lowered slowly. I am surprised that he didn't give you better instructions on how to do that but I would take half for about a week and then maybe every other day half for a week, that kind of thing. These doctors sometimes aren't very specific! Good luck! I am also hypo which just makes everything worse, right?
