Resting Heart rate 46

Ive got a big concern, greatly appreciated for any review or comment..my question is my pulse dropped to 46 last night resting pulse and was low 50's all night long should I be worried? I'm 22 male I play basketball on Tuesdays and go to the gym and walk jog tread meal 3o mins a day and 10 mins on the bike at the gym and lift lightly occasionally as well...and I really have no bad symptoms other than freakibg out a lil cause it feels like its beating too slow?? Advice please? Seen Doc today he said with no symptoms and how young I am "22 now" they don't do anything. Worried some about it...with my high blood pressure too it runs about 160/85 I different meds today currently on hydrochloric thiazides 25mg one a day, now also amlodipine 5mg will start tomorrow. I've had EKG abnormal(thickness of heart) but said it wasn't bad I've had stress test it was normal I've had heart echo it was normal also blood work and chest X-ray all normal..need advice soo much thanks!

I am afraid for you young folks with hb pressure and so young. I took mine last night and it was only 101/68 and my heart rate was 46. My advice to all of you younger folks. Lay off McDs and start a healthier eating plan. I have been making fruit/veggie yogurt smoothies a couple of times a week since finding out my blood sugar was higher than it should be. It is amazing...everything has sugar in it but if you consciously cut down on the amount you are eating you really do get used to eating way less. Don't wait till you are 60 and start a healthier eating plan like I did. Start now you have nothing to lose except a lot of weight and you gain a body that will stay with you for the long haul.

Seen my doc today and he just prescribed the amlodipine 5mg to go with my current meds to see if that helps any...and he said to stay active that if no symptoms from low heart rate then I was fine.. Only thing I get is dizzy was soon standing quickly. I'm hoping this combination of meds work cause the thiazides didn't help at all by there's elves. I switched docs because my last one didn't do much on my blood pressure thought I shouldn't worry since I was young and that I was just stressed when I came in but it's been this high for 2 months that I know of I'm 22 and it only goes down when I'm sleeping (checked it upon laying down do awhile)

My cardiologist says the numbers (for heart rate) are less worrisome than how you feel.  My hr is frequently in the 50's because of the beta blocker I take.  I am not knowledgeable in the blood pressure dept., but yeah, it is higher than it should be.  I think 120/60 is optimum.  Good luck with this.  I agree with Jerry, you should ask for this to be followed so if there are any issues they can be dealt with sooner rather than later.

Hope I get it controlled I'm active 22 yr old male, and no extra salt and I can't keep it down idk what to do I'm worried about the damage it will do to my body.

In the absence of symptoms that make it difficult for you to function your heart rate isn't a big concern to cardiologists.  It is likely your very active lifestyle has led to the slower than normal rate but if you are not in any duress because of the rate then it is likely you have nothing to worry about.  If you are on BP meds it could also be partly to blame for the slow rate so you may want to discuss how slow your heart rate is with your doctor and see if you need to adjust your dosage.  But in general if you are not struggling with the heart rate then your body is doing fine at that slow rate.

I had a heart echo, abd all the other tests at the end of last month, and I wasn't sleeping sorry if I worded it wrong it wa at night and I was just sitting down resting and took it..it wa low 50's an got as low a 46. I feel fine I guess no fatigue really just when I feel or see it that low I kinda get anxious cause idk if I should worry or not. I am active though I play basketball half court on tues for awhile an I jog walk the tread mill 3/4 days a week for 3o mins and do bycycle for 10 also do some light lifting nothing major. So you think im ok?

It sounds fine to me.  Most people have a low HR when sleeping, what happened, did you wake up and measure it for some reason?  Or were you on a heart monitor?  Sorry if I overlooked.

Given you echo result I think it would be a good idea to get an echo every few years, maybe 5 years.  The doctor should check to see if there are any changes form the baseline you now have.

My resting rate is in the 30s I'm 24 have rbbb and neurcardiogentic synscope and also have pvcs. I'd say witch I'm no doc as long as you don't have symptoms and are that active it seems you are ok . I always call if I have questions. Someone of more knowledge will post.
