wat should i do for psvt

hi am 30 year old male.. i was diagnosed with psvt a year and a half back . though i had episodes before that also but i did not know about th actual condition. now after being diagnosed as psvt. the doctors have asked me to undergo ablation. also in th last one year there have been more than 4 episodes. plus i smoke also, which i have greatly reduced. after being diagnosed,as a case of psvt. am very apprehensive .. i have episodes in th nights also ,which are corrected by vagal manouvers like pinching my nostrils and blowing out. but th episodes i had during the day for which i was admitted in th hospital are more severe and they get corrected by medication such as diltiazem. presently i am on beta blockers, and i am fine. But the thought of this episode really scares me , even if i dont want to think about it ,it comes to my head. I am afraid to work out or go for a jog also or infact play also.its really affected my lifestyle.. now i want to get th ablation done , but am worried as this is a invasive procedure and am just 30 years old.. i just dont want to take any risks. please advice and please lemme know what precautions i should take .

You should make an informed decision as to whether or not to have the ablation.  There are many people who post on this site that have have very positive ablation experiences.  I have PVC's my Dr's say it's very difficult to ablate them, if I had something that is curable with an ablation I would do it in a heartbeat (pun intented). I would also get several opinions and be sure to find out how many of this type of ablation the Dr. (and the hospital) has done. Good luck, remember you are your own best advocate.

Hi,
I'm 35 and started having svt in January, they got really bad and were happening everyday.  i was admitted to hospital twice. they tried me with atenolol - made me worse, then sotolol - didn't work, now i'm on flecainide, which was working but seems to be less effective now.
from what i've been reading about ablations on this forum and on the web it seems to be a relatively safe procedure with very low risks.  in my mind i would rather have this done than stay on meds for the rest of my life,  maybe if i was much older i would take the meds route but i want this sorting so i can get on with my life.
i am also a smoker - i gave up for 2 weeks and felt terrible, i was so stressed about what was wrong with me i started again.  i have told my ep dr who has obviously told me to try and stop.  but although i know it can bring on svt i know it doesn't cause it.
I am due to have an ablation hopefully at the end of may.
good luck!
