Hemorrhoids after hemorrhoidectomy surgery?

I had a hemorrhoidectomy exactly 3 weeks ago tomorrow.  I had a hell of a time with the post-surgery recovery, mainly due to the nature of the surgery.  As you can probably understand, I don't want to go through it again.

In subsequent bowel movements, things have felt okay, except one side still feels (feels as in touch AND symptomatically) like there is one left after the surgery.  I still feel my stitches down there as well, so I'm hoping this is just possibly related to healing, but is there a possibility they missed one or one popped up in the days since my surgery?   One of the things I've been sure to do is not strain or stay too long during BMs.

Any possible insight? Thoughts that can help?  3-weeks later shouldn't it be finished healing and in place as it should be permanently after the surgery?  Is there a possibility that they missed one when all the other ones I previously had were thoroughly removed from the surgery?
