Question about vaccination

Hello,

I went overseas and my doctor recommened the hep a vaccination.

That was in February 2017. Now it is July 2017.

I am going to visit a friend who has hep a or had. I think they have treated it. I am not trying to sound ignorant but is it possible to catch this? Say, if they cook food for me and there is any possible bacteria on their hands. Will my vaccination fight against it if need be or has it worn off.

Thank you for any help.
