Advise on stopping TDF after 7 years

I hope you are doing well. I have a query and am seeking your help.
Here is some background
2008: Detected HbsAg
2009 - 2016: No treatment, HbeAg turned -ve from +ve and HbeAb turned =ve from -ve, AST/ALT - around 40/60, Viral Load - 56000 IU/ml, HbsAg - 38000 IU/ml, Fibroscan - 5.8, Biopsy (Fibrosis) - 1/6
2016 - Started TDF 300 MG daily
2016 till date: LFT normal, Viral Load undetectable. Fibroscan - 6.5

Now my doctor is asking me to stop TDF and monitor.
Do you thing this is a right advice or should I continue since I am always on the higher side when it comes to HbsAg. I am 40 years of Age.

This is a tough question. Because you are always on higher side of HbsAg it makes me think that the treatment is not helping with HbsAg at all. It may be possible that giving your body a break from the treatment can cause it to recover in some ways and maybe help to lower HbsAg.

Your doctor probably thinks it will not get any worse.

I think his advice is not bad. And he probably wants to be careful with using the treatment too much since they do have side effects and some of them can affect your kidneys.

I think you should try it for some time but during the time when you try it make sure you do tests more often so that if the condition gets worse you will catch it pretty quickly.

Me with the same scenario, age 40, on tdf 8 years, hbeag -ve, hbsag<10k 2015-16. I am also planning to stop my taf 25mg from next Jan but it's a risk to harm the liver and immunoregulation  there are studies which say Hbsag loses after long term nucs ~15years  at the rate of 1-2% annually.

Hello. I convinced my doc to wait for one more year. So I'll continue with tdf for now. My hbeag and hbeab both are now negative. And fibrosis is around 6.8
Ok u can do that.
