Hello.
I'm going to be travelling from the UK to Australia with my eight month old baby. The purpose of the trip is to visit my partners family for a month.
At present the UK immunization calendar does not include hepatitis B for babies unless they are at high risk. I've just noticed that in Australia Hepatitis B is given to babies as three course immunisation course. I'm going to take my baby to receive one course of the immunization in a few days but there will be no time to administer the other two jabs as we're travelling soon . I've read that there's a fast track immunization program for adults travelling with a short notice ( three hep b immunizations given in 21 days) but I can't find any information about administering that fast for a baby. Will it be dangerous for a baby to receive the three vaccines so fast?
If she travels with just one immunisation, will she still have some level of protection against hep b?
I'm breastfeeding and have received the hep b immunisations in the past. Will some of my immunity protect her against hep b?
How likely is for her to come in contact with hep b? We will be staying with family most of the time.
Thanks for your help
