3 more days until tv.. scared..anxoius..worried..

so im getting closer to finally starting triple therapy with incivek. im a genotype 1a VL 13,000.  Im starting to get a little nervous because I read alot of what everyone posts and how they feel but I know it affects everyone different. Im really scared about losing alot of my hair, and hoping that im strong enough to actually finish the treatment if the side effects i get are really harsh. also a little worried about the whole rash thing with the incivek and having to eat this 20 grams of fat 3x a day.  I have almost 2 years clean from being an iv drug user, opiates were my drug of choice, and I was a 125 lbs when I first got clean, and after being clean now for almost 2 years im up to 180lbs.  Ive always had issues with my weight my whole life, and im really scared ill gain even more weight with having to eat 60 grams of fat a day.  My main goal is to cure the hep c now while the time and money is right, but I cant help it that I have all these fears about losing my hair or gaining more weight and its driving me nuts.  Also my husband and I have been trying to have a baby for the last year, we lost 3 babies all due to miscarriages first one march 2011, 2nd one was in dec 2011 and 3rd one was feb 2012. And after a full year of no luck conceiving again I finally decided I would do this treatment for the hep c and put the baby making on hold for another year or however long this road takes.  Im just really scared of what may happen, but also anxoius to just hurry up and monday hurry and get here so I can get on with it. just wanted to get that off my chest and I am very greatful for this forum and all of you who have given me alot of advice. thank you and glad to know I do not have to go thru this journey all alone.
xoxo,
vanessa

Hi and good luck to you. Your VL is not important. What is important is the shape of your liver. IMHO if you are almost cirrhotic; then go ahead and do the triple tx. If your liver is in decent shape; then wait two years for the new drugs coming out or try to get in one of the trials with the new drugs. I am almost (I hope) cirrhotic and have two more weeks to go on the 6 month triple tx with incivek. I was UD at 2 1/2 weeks. Most docs would prefer I do 48 weeks but my side effects were bad and now I am willing to just see what happens. If I relapse; I will hold on for two years for the new drugs.

I'll echo what others have said.  Congrats on quitting drugs, and congrats on deciding to treat.  Triple tx is not easy, but it's do-able.  My husband has treated and failed three times, and he's been a trooper.  He's been able to work full time and had moderate side effects.  Best wishes on your tx and keep us posted.  Feel free to ask any questions, and we will try to help.

hi vanessa first congrats on getting clean and second concrats on deciding to have treatment if you managed to get clean which cant have been easy then you have a brill chance of sticking this course. My hubby also geno 1a und at 4 wk know on tues if still und at 12 wk.He is 61 yrs old but still got long hair which as always been baby fine he as been gentle washing his hair and pats it dry opposed to rubbing it, and neither of us have noticed him losing a great deal. Wouldnt worry about putting weight on, hubby lost a stone!, but even if you do that can be addressed at a later stage Good luck with it all keep us all posted you sound a strong person and come through many losses Keep strong and best of luck x Jules

Now that I am in week 15 I look back and agree with what my husband told me:

FEAR - false evidence appearing real , lol

It is not easy but is manageable. Some days are better than other., The start was a bit bumpy but so far I have all my hear. Even if it decides to fall at some point, I am ok with that. I mean, when ever I will have another chance to do a Sinead O' Connor? I will go all Gothic.

Keep the eyes on the prize !!! It will be well worth it when you clear

Good luck

Don't feel bad about being scared. The first day that I had give myself  a shot I was okay until I had to give myself my first peg shot. I was so scared that I hit the pen and everything  went to the floor. I cried and called my fiancé and he stayed there with me. I kinda did it to myself reading about how this is how that is. You will do fine and congrats on starting the tx. Oh I also was freaked out about losing my hair but I said that if I did I was going GI Jane but it hasn't happenend so far.
I just finished my first 12 wks and I have 12 more to go. I am also genotype 1a stage 0. I've been UND since wk 3. Well good luck to you and you know we're all here for you.
