Disability - Stay or Go

I am supposed to return to work on Monday, I came down with an infection last Wednesday and am on antibiotics (again). This is Easter morning and I still feel like ****. I'm going to have to put Monday off.

I've been HIV positive since 1986, I found out around my 22nd birthday. I became extremely sick with AIDS for several years before the protease inhibitors came out in 1996. I've also been through cancer, chemo, radiation. I know what it is to be very sick...although it's been a long time until recently. <>

I'm not a person who likes to take unfair advantage of situations but I'm not sure how much longer I could keep up a full time work schedule. I have been feeling increasingly worse from HIV over the last few years and now add the recent HCV infection and a failed treatment...BANG!

I'm afraid it may be a mistake not to grab this work sponsored disability while I have the opportunity (Willie Wonka only offers this incredible benefits package to full time employees). The decision is mine and I don't know which is correct.

One in the hand is worth the two in the bush.
Take care of yourself and take the disability.
If you don't - NO one will!

Wishing you the best!

I'd hate something to happen and for some reason you lose the opportunity to take the disability package. If the package is something you can live on financially I would sure take it serious. Maybe afterwards you can still work somewhere else if you want to keep busy.
