If your father is indeed infected with HCV, it can often be clinically resolved with proper medication. A proper diagnosis must be made first; this will require further testing. He should be referred to a liver specialist who will order a ‘HCV RNA by PCR’ test if appropriate.
Good luck to you and your family—

bill its actually my dad who have such an elevated ALT and i am very much tensed about him i want to know the detailed information about this (that what will happen to him or such an elevate ALT value leads to what???) we had number of tests related to liver too.All i want to know is that is there proper treatment for this and what should i do?
i will be very great full to you
It’s difficult to read too much into ALT levels alone; however, 738 is quite elevated. If you are indeed HCV antibody positive, it’s likely you have active RNA infection, and the liver enzymes are elevated as a result.
Further testing would be required to confirm active infection; discuss ‘HCV RNA by PCR Quantitative with reflex to genotype’ test if you haven’t had it already. With the results of that test, your doctor can offer further advice.
Good luck—
Bill
