Scared...please help

I want to start off by saying I am a 30 yr old male that got diagnosed with hep c 4 weeks ago. I went to the dr because of yellowing of the skin and eyes and got my labs back and sure enough I have hep c. The question I have is about 2 weeks after my apt I started itching all over, I haven't had more than 3 hours of sleep since this started. I have broke out with what appears to be bumps on my back, chest, arms, and legs. Has anyone has this happen to them? What do u recommend for the itching? I have tried benedryl, gold bond body lotion, olive oil, and oatmel baths and nothing seems to help. I have an apt for a GI specialist next week hopefully I can get some help there but this is interfering with my job and spending time with my family. I would really appreciate any feedback.

If you are yellow, you probably are at least stage 3 or 4 and when your alts go up
the itching starts in earnest, prescription meds are good, I.E. vistaril or atarax ask your doc.

You mentioned you're going to see a GI, but you didn't mention a dermatologist. I think a dermatologist is best to diagnose your skin problem and probably will prescribe something for the itching. Many people with Hep C have itching. It's one of the side effects.

Talk to your GI about treatment for Hep C. Also, if your insurance permits, see a Hepatologist. He will be a more in-depth doctor for the liver and can best guide you to your next step in getting cured. Good luck...

Re word your question.  You will probably get a bunch more feed back start with something like.  Have hcv and now  hives, help!  then add the rest of your message.  I thought you were wanting a listening ear.  I have never had this type of reaction.  Good luck I know someone on the site will have an answer.  PRAX is a good lotion that has pain killing abilities available over the counter.
