being a stage 2, I have had zero symptoms from HCV. I don’t expect any symptoms unless I reach late stage 4.

i tx'd unsuccessfully 5 years ago. I would describe my sides as pretty mild compared to what I have read on this site.

hopefully my next tx , probably in 2 years with PI's plus SOC and maybe Alinia as well will be more successful.

My main symptom of HepC over the years before and after diagnosis has been fatigue, at times extreme.  Also High BP partially due to Portal Hypertension from fibrosis of the portal vein and partially due I'm sure to some weight gain.  Since diagnosis I had some gallbladder issues and eventual removal which is common with HepC. Also have some nausea and still the fatique.
The fatigue seems to be my most debilitating condtition.  I hate it, it has changed my life and constantly try to battle it with rest and better diet, VitC, Vit B complex and sometimes zinc,  (anybody have any other good idea's for battling fatigue I'd like to hear them).
I have also used 'A.Vogel Liver Complex'  which contains milk thistle and some other things to lower my viral load which it has sucessfully done by 20% so far.

I learned I had Hep C in '96, and over the years I developed various GI problems, some of which came and went, so I didn't necessarily attribute them to the Hep C.  They included heartburn, nausea (especially in the mornings, and I'm way too old to be pregnant, lol!), abdominal cramping, and a tendency to diarrhea.

I also had some severe depression after learning of my dx, though in time it resolved and I went off the AD's.  Years later I began having muscle spasms, too.

I did a lot of things to try to get healthier before tx, and I was interested to notice that all those symptoms, above, came back during tx, and were worse than ever!  Now, post tx, everything but the nausea is gone, and that is only occasionally.  Were those sx related to having Hep C?  I don't know, but since it's a disease of the digestive system, it makes sense to me that they were.

As for tx...how to get through it...

Be sure you have a good support system, and spouse or significant other is on board.
Find a hepatologist you trust.
Consider the possibility you might have to decrease your work hours, and be prepared for that.
Spend lots of time on this website!!   : )  Ask for the support you need and someone here will give it to you.
Be aware of what the tx drugs can do, and be prepared to take even more meds to counteract the side effects of tx drugs.
Enter tx with a positive attitude and stay the course until you're finished!!!

Hope this helps.  Good luck to you.

My only symptom of Hep C was fatigue.  Treatment was at times very difficult, but mostly it was bearable.  I wanted to get clear of the virus, and treatment was the only way to do that.  You may have to get through it on a one-day-at-a-time basis.  There is no way to know in advance what it will be like.  Some people have bad side effects from the meds, but find they can endure them.  Keep concentrating on the goal, and just get through it.  Best of luck to you.

I got alot of symptoms around 2 1/2 weeks, fatigue, depression, riba rash, riba rage,  anemia, not being able to sleep, and definantly depression which i am on zoloft, and it has helped immensley, but still depressed, and have to force myself to do things. doctor had to tweak my medicine, and i also had to go higher on zoloft, BUT good news is, the virus is undetectable, and i am G1b, i still have to tx till march. all of this will be worth it in the end. it has not been a picnic in the park, i have good days and not so good days, and take this one day at a time and tell myself that the depression will be gone after treatment ( I Pray). Just do what your doctor tells you, and if you have doubts PLEASE come on here and ask, i am sure i asked some pretty stupid questions, but nobody ever steered me wrong, and the information calmed me down and let me know that i was not going crazy or going to die. Somebody will talk to you in here...............
you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only platelet issues with the HCV (slightly slower clotting).  Not a  thing else

Treatment is immunotherapy, which is a form of chemotherapy.  A wide range of possible side effects with fatigue being about the only one that's guaranteed.  You could get a bunch of the others or none of the others.  You just have to wait and see how your body reacts to the meds.   Mood disturbance (irritability, anger or depression) is common enough with therapy with interferon that a lot of people actually start a doctor-recommended anti-depressant along with the chemo.

You just tough it out.  Sure beats the possible alternative of advanced liver disease.  Cirrhosis was a much scarier side effect read for me than the possible medicine side effects.

I wasn't aware of any symptoms from having Hep C. At least nothing that couldn't be possibly blamed on something else, like getting older. Increased depression only after I first found out! I came to grips with it eventually.
