My situation being post transplant is a bit different. Hep c is more aggressive after a transplant. I don't think I would have noticed any of the symptoms that I had a few months prior to tx if I hadn't already had the experience of my liver deteriorating. The symptoms were a difference of endurance, simply in a few months time, I noticed I couldn't walk as far or for as long.
There were a couple of other minor things~ enough to scare me into doing tx as soon as I could.
That has indeed been reversed.
I had hep sice the 80's. I realize now that I did have hep sides but at 2/2 it could have been worse. I had lots of trouble sleeping, and with night sweats several times a year. Also I work construction and I would be completely wiped out at the end of the day. I am almost 52 yrs now and I expect to be tired, but I am not anything like before, I am actually doing extra work after work. I didn't have enough energy to do that for the last several years. I do feel better most of the time, but not unless something triggers an old memory do I think about it. I have no regrets about tx at all!!
hi
Pretreatment my symptoms were mainly fatigue and red and puffy eyes and extreme tiredness at times, skin rash. I associated it with mainly working shift work and night shifts. it was beginning to get worst , specially after excercise I had restless nights and not refreshing sleep.
During Tx I suffered quite a lot with diziness, headache xtreme tiredness , brain fog, insomnia, lack of concentration ,low mood
These symptoms continued post treatment and now im nearly 5 month withouts meds and i am still not back to normal yet. only now some th diziness and headache has gone , but some days are still bad.,
i have improved a lot but still gets tired very easily.
I was seeing a chinese doctor and was doing acupuncture throughout my reatment and she was the only one who understood my symptoms.
Hi Summer - I was acute with HCV two summers ago and most definitely had symptoms, mostly exhaustion and confusion. Post TX I feel better than ever aside from lingering eye problems, but by and large I have plenty of energy. I was worried most about recovering cognitive function which clearly was disabling and although my family would disagree, that is also back for the most part.
I was completely asymptomatic prior to tx and feel essentially the same now at 4 months post eot. I do feel a bit more energy now, but that's hard to compare to prior to tx. I consider myself fortunate that I have no residual effects from 48 weeks of tx (Inf/Riba) that I can note at this time.
in most ways i'm much better then before tx...even at 2/2 i had sx before tx..for years...i was so tired most of the time...i had skin stuff going on...i was so weak...now 8 months post tx i'm as strong as i was 10 years ago...i feel much better then before tx...i do have some tx issues going on but i think in a while most of that will get better....billy
I love hearing all the positive feedback, thank you! And hello Will, hope all is well!!
I have not completed treatment yet, but most of my symptoms I was feeling before treatment are gone.
Just a hello summer. Nice to see you again and I hope all is going well..
Will.
I have not completed treatment yet. I am on week 43 of 48 weeks of triple med Tx with Interferon, Riba, and Incivek.
Before Tx I had joint and muscle aches, increasing fatigue, little energy or stamina.
Currently, in week 43, other than the side effects from the meds, which come and go, I actually do feel better than I did before treatment. Some days I have quite a bit of energy and motivation and I am getting some things done (slowly, LOL) that I had not tackled in years. I definitely can feel the difference and I am not even done with treatment (and I still have some side effects from treatment).
I have been UND since week 8 and I hope to stay that way and attain SVR.
So, even though I am not finished with Tx yet, I do feel better than before Tx and I am hoping that after I finish with Tx and no longer have the med side effects, that I will feel even better.
Hi, before treating I had cyroglobulinemia which shows as a rash on my lower legs and I was told it is the body fighting the HCV. I also had edema. Since starting tx, both are gone, I am 5 months post tx and it has not come back so that means to me that the HCV is gone. The cyro was very painful when I had it.
I do feel better however I feel that is is going to take a little longer for some things to improve, i.e. memory, concentration. As my doc says, tx was a bear..
Good luck to you
Dee
