Need advice Please

I have a question and Hope some of you can help. My Mom has been coming to this Site the entire time she has been on Pegintron/Ribavirin(7 months now). It has helped her being able to relate to othe people in the same situation, I am not in the same City as her so she is more less without any family, except her husband. She no longer feels comfortable coming here, so I was wondering if someone could give me a few other sites, maybe a name of a few books also, that can help her cope for the remainder of her Therapy. She has cried for the past 2 weeks, due to not being able to communicate with people to gain knowledge of this disease. I am so proud of her making it this far, but I don't think she feels she can find the kind of support she needs by coming here anymore. I would appreciate any information that I can give her. I Love my Mom and knowing she is going through this is hard enough.
Thank you for your time

I apologize sincerely to your mother! This forum went through some terrible growing pains recently. Those of us that have been here awhile followed the oldtimers lead to have interigty and stick to the forums goal To educate and support those with and family members diagnosed with Hepatitis. Some of us recently got off track. I being one of them fighting for what this board was set up to do. In my passion, I let did not act with the integrity I was fighting for.I humbly apologize.

I think Dream Angel these problems have been solved and Med Help will not put up with this negative behavior. So please tell your Mom to keep coming back. I believe she will see the board running smoothly and recieve what she needs here. There are other boards but I believe this is one of the best.

DreamAngel:

If your mother doesn't feel comfortable coming here anymore because of the recent craziness, I certainly understand; please tell her that this board is not usually like this (at least since I started coming in the summer), and will hopefully get back to a more normal state real soon.  Here are a few sites with message boards that are good:

<A href="http://www.hepatitisneighborhood.com">Hepatitis Neighborhood</a>.  (You need to register, but it is free)
<A href="www.hepcnet.net">HepCNet.Net</a>
<A href="http://boards.health.msn.com/topic.asp?topic_id=17">WebMD</a>

Tell her good luck, and please don't give up on this board yet because she can get a lot of help from very experienced and caring people here.

Why did your Mom stop coming here?
I tried a search for "hepatitis C forums" on Yahoo and a bunch of sites came up but none with the same great information as they have here.  I just started getting Hepatitis magazine, cannot tell you if they are good yet, I sure hope so.
If she stopped coming here because of all the fighting, I don't blame her, but tell her that there are a ton of people here who really seem to care and give very good advice.  Don't let a few people scare her away.  I am new here myself but I plan on staying, there is so much to learn and over time the really stellar people will stand out.
Has your Mom tried support groups yet?  I don't know where she lives but my area (so. cal) has several and I may try one.
Best of luck to you and your Mom.

Thank you for your help. I will be going to see her next week, maybe I can take her mind off of things. We Model together in the summer time, so she is not only my Mom but also my Best Friend. I Just hate to see her hurt is all.
I wish all of you going through this the best of everything.
Thank you fo your time

You are hitting the "post comment" button more than one time and as a result you are posting redundantly. After you have written your comment hit the "post comment" button one time and be patient. It will post but it may take a few seconds. By multiple posting you may be using up the thread prematurely. Try this approach and I think it will work for you and the board. Mike

I am in Ventura but I did a search for you and found this site.  It has a bunch of groups in your area.  If you don't like any of those just do a search for Hep C support on the net, or maybe Hepatitis magazine has a contact, I don't have mine here but I will take a look tonight.

Does anyone know of a support group in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?
This site really is a blessing, I visit several times daily, but it's hard to get to know who's who with this brain fogand to really "connect".  I also have a huge responsibility - my Mom just had a stroke and my Dad with is on oxygen 24/7.  My 27 year old daughter has awesomely taken over as care-givers to them as a part-time which is all they need right now, but she has a new baby & a life.  I'm on 25/48 and tx is going good as can be expected......hurry up June!!  I'm assuming that's the last of my tx.  I don't know why I'm spilling my guts, I usually handle things well.

Have her give us another try.  Things have pretty much settled down and we are here to help others like ourselves.

I am sorry that your mother no longer feels comfortable coming here. I too have been backing off for a while and not coming here as often because of all the childish behavior and trash talk but these people have been my support for so long now I don't want to give them up now (still have another year left of tx) just thought I would give them some time to grow up a little. they are not usually like this on this forum. There is another site not sure of the address but it is Janis7 hepc something. Someone help us out here what is that Janis address? Keep checking back someone will get the address for us. Sorry brain fog today.
