when I spoke with my md's nurse on Monday I asked if they had gotten approval from United Health yet and he told me that of all the things to worry about with this disease paying for my meds is NOT one of them. If United denies the claim the drug companys have programs to help. After paying for Insurance for the last 20 plus years and having nothing except routine stuff if this got denied I think I would go postal!!! Well not really but I would be Peeeed off. :)
CAN U CONTACT ME REGARDING PEGASYS INTERFERON AND COPEGUS TABLETS . I HAVE A YEARS SUPPLY OF THEM IF INTERESTED. NHS Surplus
It wouldn’t hurt to call around to several pharmacies and tell them what the lowest price you have. Explain your situation and tell them you have to go with the lowest price. I am sure you have already called the manufactures but it wouldn’t hurt to call them again and explain (beg), you know you do not qualify for assistance but could they at least give you a discount. I know exactly what you are going through because I am going through similar issue but not quite as drastic as yours.
I try not to think about the “Human Parasites” that could work but would rather take a free ride at our expense or the ones that are illegally over here and getting free medical attention at our expense and the one time we need a little help, we get the finger.
I have no co-pay. I have exhausted all the funds for prescriptions through my insurance company. I am now straight out paying for everything. I ordered my first month's treatment and will start on Friday as well. I'm looking for a miracle myself. If anyone finds any answers, please let me know. In order to get on the V950, you have to have tried and failed the Pegasys/Riba, so it really is a catch-22. thanks for your comments.
There is one thing I did that got my Co-Pay down some. I used their Greed against them. Call several pharmacies and find out how much your total Co-Pay is. I was amazed at how much they differ. Once you find the lowest call the others back and see if they want to beat the price. Don’t feel bad about it because they are still making a Butt Load of Money off of you.
I agree, dmhrdh, disgusting state of affairs is our health care trap. Don't get me started.
mbnh, what state are you in? Texas counties have medical assistance programs which are very easy to qualify for. Only need utility bill and one month bank statement. Perhaps your county has something similar.
Good luck!

I am in the same boat, Punished for being Functional. I wasted weeks calling every lead only to run into a dead ends. I ordered my first months treatment and will start this Friday. I figure I can still pursue leads and hopefully something will turn up but I have my doubts. I will let you know if something does. Commitment to Care was a dead end.
I'm self insured(which by the way my premiums just went up....again) and the last time I treated the cost for me out of pocket for the Peg-Intron was $285 per month. I needed Procrit by week 2 and the cost out of pocket was $495 per month. The Riba was only $25....go figure.
I also do not qualify for assistance. I even found a place that helps out on Rx's for people with insurance....I didn't qualify.
How many people do you know that can afford what amounts to an extra mortgage payment a month?!?
It's ridiculous and for people like us it's a Catch 22.
I was unable to find the drugs online. I'm not sure if they can be purchased outside of the USA.
Good luck!
You can try Commitment to Care by Shearing that makes peg-intron and ribavirin that I took. Otherwise, maybe you can get in a clinical trial. Best wishes to you.
