Boceprevir updates

I am 12 week post treatment undetectable. Does anyone know of any studies that show the odds of SVR for us?
I was in treatment arm 28 weeks of all three drugs (protease inhibitor, rib, peg)

Check this out; you could be 100%  if ..if... if
http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/2007icr/ddw/docs/060107_a.html

If the pattern remains true for Boceprevir as Telaprevir then the failures tend to come early on.  When people clear they tend to stay so FAR MORE than with SOC.

By the way Mike.....I wish that I was SVR but I am not; I'm treatment naive....so very naive.

Best wishes buddy, and likewise for you John.......but at this point I think luck is out of the mix.  I think you've both secured SVR's.

best,

Are you (or WERE you) a Genotype 1?  If so, I am really amazed at the great results the triple drug tx'es are getting.  28 weeks is fantastic compared to the alternatives, and most  would never see a course shorter than 48 weeks, for type 1's.  If you had a highly sensitive, extremely low limit PCR, or a Qualititative PCR with super low limits, and were undetected at three months after EOT, then I think you will find the liklihood of relapse are about the same as for the six month PCR negative result...or almost nil!

Best wishes to you, and keep us up to date on your subsequent PCR's down the road.  After a year goes by, you can do the full, and complete celebration...knowing that it is all behind you for sure and for good.  Nonetheless, you can probably start the pre-party right now!!

Good Luck!

Great to hear this good news.  I agree with Willy, if you go by what we've seen from other SVR12's then you are 95% on your way to SVR.

Could you remind us please on the dosing schedule you got.  I presume the normal peg 180 + weight based riba.  But how much boceprevir and was it twice daily dosing?  28 weeks noted.  Did you get any notably bad sides on the way?

Thanks,

Congrats on the UND 12 weeks post tx!  Sounds like you'll be racing British cars for quiet awhile.

Thanks for the information. Yes I was undetectable since week 2 of treatment. with 28 weeks of triple thearpy I have been undectable for 26 weeks on thearpy and 12 weeks off. It is nice to hear encouraging information. I was FO score so hopefully the 95-100% odds hold up.

It's just a guess on my part but your odds are very very good; probably 95% or better you'll remain that way.

It's a good time to sate that there are NO stats on the durability of Boceprevir viral responses compared to regular SOC.  Assuming that an SVR 12 is an SVR 12 without regard to how ya got there, you should be in very good shape.  Generally speaking......if people are going to rebound they do it fairly soon after the End Of Treatment (EOT).

There is a study that I believe suggested that IF a person RVR'ed (cleared at 4 weeks and remained so) the the stats don't change between SVR12 and week 24 post tx. (except for cirrhotics).  Rephrased since that was awkward;

IF you RVR'ed and remained clear thru week 12 weeks EOT your chances of getting an official 24 week SVR should be about 100% unless you are cirrhotic.  That's true according to a study for SOC.  It's also likely true for people who clear with other forms of TX such as triple therapy with either Boceprevir or Telaprevir.  (although there may not be any stats released on these yet).

Your odds are very good.  (and I hope that I related the study correctly)

Keep us posted and congrats.
