Nut butters are great too such as almond butter. I make my own in a food processor. Almonds in addition are a good source of Vit E , Calcium several minerals and fiber. It is also easy to spread and just yummy when
lightly toasted.
Hmmm, what about flax or flax seed?
Do you like the taste of flaxseed oil ?
One issue with fats is there stability (time before they go rancid)
Coconut oil is very stable btw , flaxseed isn`t . This is also one reason why
I make my own almond butter fresh and I store it in the fridge.
I used to buy Trader Joes almond butter but after I made my own
their product tastes rancid to me.
Flaxseed is good too, but I think the coconut delivers more fat per volume.
flaxseed oil has the same amount of fat as coconut oil - 14g per tbsp. bali05 a right about flax seed oil going rancid. i occasionally use the flax oil. the brand i buy is barleans and only from a store i trust and where they keep it refrigerated. also i never buy the oil that was pressed at more than two weeks before the time i purchase it.
It seems there is a lot of sugar and salt consumption going on, which is hard on the liver. If you can stick to just fats, minus the sugars and salts, you'll be better off in the long run, and won't put on the lbs.
Actually, I don't use flax seed oil. I use flax seed meal, mixing it into granola, oatmeal, smoothies, etc. Its great for making corn bread.
But I'm not on triple therapy either.
And I love coconut anything!
Today's bread is potato with whole flax seed, ground flax seed and HEMP seed, with whole wheat. I just finished shaping it into loaves. Should be gooood.
