Concerned.......

Dear Friends, I recently moved in with a couple people off an add on Craigs List, I just found out they both have hep c , I normally would not worry about this, but I also found out they are using needles and injecting drugs, I don't use drugs or needles, but I live in the same house, and Ive noticed the man picking his scabs and leaving them places, and the woman cooks food a lot , and feeds it to me, Ive also noticed blood on the counters, and bloody pieces if tissue laying through out the house,  since Ive moved in Ive lost 15 pounds and I feel fatigued , is it possible to be infected by eating food with infected blood in it? Ive noticed her hand was bleeding a few times, but didn't think anything of it until now, I'm pretty worried, but I didn't think I could get it that way, can you please tell me what you guys  think, and If I should get out of this situation immediately........Thank you for your time, and God Bless...

I agree with everyone, get a new place. I have used in the past. I have been clean 3 yrs. I am never around it at all any more. You just shouldn't be around it

there are many scenerios on how you could get HCV living in that enviroment. the one that would scare me the most would be an accidental needle stick.
I know one of the other members posted that HCV can live for 16 hours on surfaces, it actually can live outside the body for several days.
There must be reasons why you needed to seek a place to live on craigs list and that is your business but you should seek a different place to live. Anywhere is better then where you are at! Run away from there as soon as possible.
Best of luck

I think you know what to do, and how you want to live.
You get Hep C only with blood to blood contact, and it is not easy to get.
I was together with my girlfriend in 14 year without any protection and she never gets hep C.
Old needles are dangerous, and be sure that they are away from you, and why live with drug people when you don’t use it by yourself?

Assuming you're serious - how does someone with an internet connection end up living in a place like this? - I think you should get out of that situation immediately.  If someone else told you they were in this situation I think you'd be telling them the same thing.  Blood on counters, blood on tissues lying around the house, picked scabs left laying around .. and this woman feeding you food she cooks in this environment.  And that's only what you've noticed.  Makes me wonder what you're actually eating in that food she's cooking for you and what kind of creepy crawlies are in the furniture you sit on/sleep in, etc. etc.

Hep C is a blood to bloodstream transmission method so you'd have to ingest blood into an open wound inside your mouth.  Hep C lives on a surface for 16 hours or so though so after the tissues have been moved and the scabs (ugh) have been cleaned up, it could be hanging around a bit longer and a very remote chance of it entering a cut on your skin.  Very remote.  However, while you might not get Hep C very easily you may very well get something else.  Makes me want to vomit just thinking about it.  I'd be checking out your local newspaper for a place to move to, not Craigslist.  I know you asked specifically with regards to Hep C but I'm answering you in general just the same.
