Could having a low platelet count be a cause for seizures?

I have recently just visited the ER for my 5th seizure in 2 years. This last visit I received a message a day later saying my platelet count was low. I am above average drinker but was not in withdrawal during any of my seizures.

Ok just read on google a VERY low platelet count can  e associated with seizures due to bleeding in the brain but that would probably be a platelet count less than 30 and if that was your result you likely would have received a transfusion as a level that low is very serious

Hi you have posted in the hepatitis c forum do you have hep c?

I personally am not aware of any association between a low platelet count and seizures. What has your doctor said?

My platelet count was about 80 to 90 before I cured my hep c but now since I have been cured it is about 110 but still well below normal. I have had a low platelet count for many years but like I said I have never read anything about seizures.

Hope your doctors can figure out what is going on.
