How long does it take for the itching to subside after incivek therapy ends

I tried a bunch of stuff for itching (I'm still itching post tx) and I ended up with taking Zyrtec during the day and Benadryl at night.  (checkwith your doctor).  My doctor said the itching was from the Riba.  I also had the staple of Gold Bond lotion (watch out, it makes you cold 'cause it has menthol in it, and in the wintertime i hated it), green bottle, red cap, and that helped me get to sleep (along with the Benadryl.)  Good luck!

I finished incivek over a week ago.  I don't itch at all.  I think its different
for everyone.   Make sure you drink lots of water.   That seem to really
help me.   If I start feeling the sides its when I'm not drinking enough water.

I agree with the responses in this thread and the responses you received in your other thread related to this topic. In fact I am inclined to wonder if the Ribavarin is more of a cause to your itching rather than the Incivek. I suppose we shall see soon enough.

Either way I encourage you to have a topical corticosteroid available as well as a decent oral antihistamine. I had a few days of itching while on the Incivek but now on week 30 I am so itchy lately. It came out of no where. I have examined my habits and  routine and I am not doing anything different. That is is why I am inclined to think it is the Riba in my case.

Either way I hope you feel better!!!

I don't think there is any one answer to this question. It varies quite a lot, depending on the severity of your Incivek-caused rash, whether your skin is also reacting to the Ribavirin, and whether the virus itself or it's effects on your liver (such as cirrhosis) are also contributing to your itching. I'm on week 42 out of 48 and I still have some itching. It was quite severe during the Incivek part of tx, then when that was over the itching actually got worse for several weeks before gradually beginning to improve. It got to about 1/3 as bad as during Incivek and it just stopped there. Others here can tell you about oral meds that can help with the itching, but I never tried them. Good luck!
