Well, I had a couple screaming out-bursts, in-which my voice was much, much louder then I had ever heard it, and then I adjusted, by noting the signs that lead up to my out-burst, and I would avoid people and pets~
cando is correct, as usually is.
Ribavirin will make you irritable, impatient and on edge. Interferon is usually the culprit that leads to inappropriate outbursts. Interferon causes depression and irritability and anger are common symptoms of depression. Rage itself is a psychiatric manifestation and interferon is the drug with the FDA-mandated psychiatric warnings - not the ribavirin.

Getting back to the OP's original question: I think it is a good idea to do the first shot without extra pain meds, to actually see what the side effect from the shot will be~
I didn't get up the nerve to use the Medical MJ my third shot, and then, like
I said, only a small amount~
And in the end it's probly a bit of everyting I think all you people have covinced me to just see what happens first, wich was the original question.let's end the thread aye OK.
I'm just the messanger, dude I'm only repeating a generlization mainly for Diana66,I't good to kn ow you believe it to be interfuron,as I have four more weeks before treatment I'll probly have my own opinion, and I hope I don't get either,
Can-do is right.
I thought it was from the riba until I noticed one morning after my interferon shot how I came on this forum just ready to tear heads off !
Extreme irritation is how it hit me.
While its called "Riba rage" the main culprit is the Interferon.
I did not get any Riba Rage so far, 4 weeks passed already. Mind you, I have done around 4 months of counseling before I started tx so I cleared a few issues and worked through some of passive aggressive anger I was manifesting :)
I do swear though in my car when I see an idiot driver, but that's pretty much the end of it (and it feels good :) )
I here that alot it's very common in Aust we call it Riba Rage,it drive some people Mad. most think it's a side effect of Ribavirin I'll soon find out for myself after xmas.
yah I guess Tylenol Brownies won't taste very good, they don't make you laugh either.
The cannabis brownies with THE FAT in them..haha...just jokin around. But I notice, I am more pbsessive then ever, since I had the 28 Interferon shots, and seem to like to argue with my hubs more, sometimes not getting that he is joking, etc
At first I took tylenol with my interferon as recommended by my nurse. Then I found cannabis brownies worked better. Tylenol masked the discomfort. Brownies took it away.
I have finished 6 mo tx. Never took tylenol before neither before nor after injections. I only took when I did feel pain. I dont think it is good to take additional meds if its really necessary.
I took 2 tylenols 30minutes before my injection and many times Iwould get a big muzzy headache the morning after so I would take ibuprofen then.
I didn't experience pain after the injection and I didn't like taking additional meds in anticipation for something that might not happen. I did have a skin rash for most of tx and took an antihistamine daily as UD mentioned. And I always took my meds with food as prescribed on the label to give myself the best chance for successful tx. Good luck.
I took nothing I thought about it but just went to bed.
Well, I did notice that the pain med worked better, if it was taken about an hour before the shot, instead of after, but I couldn't take Tylenol or Ibuprofen, because that caused me to have muscle cramps, which started the year prior to my Treatment.
I ended up using a very small amount of Medical Marajuana, only a teeny amount though, the day of the shot. Not enough to make me go to sleep, or to render me forgetfull...because I was so afraid of forgetting to take my Victrelis on time~ It always helped more, to take it before-hand
I just done shot 4 and I felt great after each shot, no need for pain relief. I might get some headache 18-24 hours after the shot
I guess you need to try and see what works for you. You could perhaps take something on your first and see if you have the symptoms.
Some people do not seem to cope without the pain reliefs, you never know
