The study I'm in has exclusion criteria that includes current or history of alcohol or drug use in past 12 months. I believe drug testing was done in the screening phase. However, since I didn't use any drugs/alcohol, I didn't really pay much attention to what they tested for.
If you want to participate in a study it's important that its "rules" be adhered to. If not, the results may be skewed. We all depend on the results being reliable.
With respect to the benzodiazepams, some of the triple therapy drugs can affect\increase the action of the drug in your system by 35%. I had to quit my Xanax cold turkey at the beginning of treatment at the behest of my doctor. I was not happy that he did not taper me off. So this is definitely something you will want to discuss with your treatment team so that you can either be weaned off ahead of time or be monitored closely during your treatment. my initial insomnia side effects were compounded greatly and this could have been avoided had I been weaned off ahead of time. Good luck with your treatment. Don't be offended by the tough love shown here. The people on This forum have been lifesavers for me as they offer a level of support that I do not get at home. I think their advice so far is sound. If you feel you might not be able to put the alcohol aside for the next six months to a year, then reach out and get support for that too. You can do it....it's just easier when you have a support system in place.
Most people who battle alcohol their whole life {Your words not mine} usally have ISSUES , sorry for the misdiagnosis
Crigger- I have a script for a mild tranquilizer that I take a couple of times a month and posted that I happened to drink that one night.
I'd just really like to know how you concluded that I am depressed, need professional help for my mental health and suffer from a narcotic addiction? Oh, and the comment about 'not judging' - that was intended I irony, right.
UKgirl- you've been the most helpful and I promise to keep you in the loop as the screening /trial progresses.
i really liked your quote. take care. belle
There is another way. You don't have to do it alone. I've been totally sober over 7 years. I drank for 35. "Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path." Try the rooms. If you've hit your bottom....quit digging. It works. It really does. What do you have to lose?
