I had no liver damage but stopped drinking for 6 months prior to treatment, as I had read studies that indicated better results for those who do. I never drank while treting, no even a sip.
WHile onrteatment, alcohol will interfere will the work of the interferon and may enhance viral replicaiton.
I don't think you need to tell your docotr but if you are about to treat do not do so again and be sure to stay clear of alcohol while treating.
After treatment, if you clear the virus, make your personal choice based on the amout of liver damage you had prior. If you had much damage you shouldn't drink.
What ever you do,do not tell the doctor you are drinking,he will maybe refuse TX,you have to stop drinkn tho if you want to SVR.,,BTW...be careful what you tell the doc...if you ever mention the word suicide...you may be denied TX also.
I wouldn't sweat it either
don't sweat it. start tx and get cured of this disease. then when you are 6 months post tx and you get the good news you are clear then go have a few drinks. of course only if you don't have serious liver damage.
good luck with the treatment
I wouldnt worry about it,start the treatment and slay the dragon and quit drinking till you find out your clear.....
If it's only going to be once I wouldn't worry too much but if you think you are going to have a problem - it's an issue. You can't drink on treatment nor until you know you have been cured. You arleady have liver damage and the alcohol is going to make it exorbitantly worse.
A lof of us understand how hard it really is but it's worth it. Have a glass of wine once you are done.
Tell your doctor.
If you have a drinking problem you may need help dealing with it.
You went to the doctor for help. Remember?
