Blood work question...

can someone please explain these to me?

HEPTIMAX ( R ) HCV RNA 964112 H <5 IU/mL
HEPTIMAX ( R ) HCV RNA 5.98 H <0.70 log IU/mL

I think I know what the first one is (viral load)?

but I am not certain what the other one is.

as always, thank you to everyone for being so helpful and supportive.

Spot on; that’s it exactly.

You’ll find LOG values reflect response more accurately; or at minimum paint a better picture of viral response during treatment. We’d think that when we drop from a viral load of say, fifty million to maybe ten million that it’d be very impressive; and it is, from a numerical perspective.

But, reviewing LOG value, we see that this translates as:

50,000,000 = LOG 7.7
10,000,000 = LOG 7.0

While reducing viral load by 40,000,000 sounds like a lot, 0.7 reduction is actually insignificant viewed from a logarithmic perspective, eh?

i figured it out;

it's the logarithmic representation of 964112 = 5.9841 log

so, i need to show a 2 log drop to continue treatment (once i start)

that would be 9641 = 3.9841

ahhh, now i get it.... :)
