Hi there,

Not only do we have the same genotype 4 I was diagnosed in June09 to.

The most important thing for you to do right now is get an idea of what

condition your liver is in. There are 3 tests + bloodwork.

For starters I recommend a FibroSure blood test . Quick and easy.

Compare those results with your bloodwork. If you can do a biopsy or fibroscan

to confirm those results.

Check out drug called Alinia (Nitazoxanide) by Romark Pharm.

You need to get informed. There is a website called Janis & Friends which

will answer alot of your questions.

You are the second geno 4 today on this forum , what a rare find.

Stick around!

If you need info on Alinia , I have been in touch with the company that makes it,
read all about it and have it currently sitting on my desk after months of research
and convincing my GP to write me a script.
Let me know what your questions are.

How do you know Telepravir will be available to us , I was told it is designed

for geno 1 only ?

What would your GI recommend do Alinia + SOC or do Telepravir +SOC ?

I am thinking of trying the Alinia monotrial first but I also saw  a number of posts increasing
their VL during Alinia lead in phase so that worries me , in case I decide to wait
for Telepravir after a failed Alinia mono.

The monotrial data in Egypt:6 month Alinia mono with 23 people =4 SVRd (17.4) they had a baseline @ VL <400k IU/ml

Combo SOC data:
48wks Alinia + 36wks SOC = 79% SVR

I seen my GI a couple of days ago and asked about my subtype and he said he didn't know.
Telepravir will be availiable for us and also waiting for more info on alinia.
I Take Milk Thistle,Selenium,Vitamin E,NAC,Sam-e,R-loipic acid,Reishi Mushroom,Vitamin C,B-12
My GI is the one who just told me about Alinia and hr is very excited about it.He said in Egypt they were giving it to HCV infected people coincidently for parasites and they found viral loads plummet, Genotype 4. They from what my GI said was they have actually cleared the virus with Alinia alone.

What is your subtype Boobert ?
Which new drugs are you waiting for  ?
Do you mind sharing your supplement list ?
So far I have not seen anything pretaining to geno 4 only geno 1. Like Telepravir was designed specifically to treat geno 1.

What do think about the Alinia trials for geno 4 ?

I was dx in June this year F2 (FibroScan+FibroSure). When did you check your
VL and LFTs last ?

No fatique or nausea for me but migraine attacks and some GI trouble.

Great to hear from you.

Search no more, I'm genotype 4 and live out in California never been to the Middle East I'm not sure where I picked it up at. I have had it for around 25 years dx in 2002 and never treated. Currently I'm stage 1-2 grade 1 last bx in 2007. I take milk thistle, selenium and other supplements. I was an active alcoholic for over 20 years drinking in the morning very hard core. I quit in 2002 and about 6 months after was dx, Why my liver is doing this well only God knows but I thank him. I am considering treatment after the new drugs are released.Right now I suffer from chronic fatigue and nausea among others. How about you,Keep it touch. Bob.
