Hep c,test negative with gery area and PCR test

A hep c test was done which came out negative but in a grey area. As a result blood has been take for a PCR test. Please tell me what it mean. I am worried to the core as the test was done for a job. They said the result will be in 3 days after which another one will be done after a month. I am confused and concerned as I don't know what to do and my family is depending on me to get this job.
I would be very grateful if some one can give me any explanations regarding the above . Is it common to have a negative result with a grey area and what will the PCR test indicate.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Your first test that you had that they said the result was in"the grey area" most likely was the HCV antibodies test"

What it could have said is that you had a "weak positive".

There is a good chance if that was the case it was a "false positive"

The initial antibodies test done is very sensitive for any antibody in the blood and can sometimes cross -react withI antibodies to other conditions,,therfore you can get a false positive

The PCR the doctor correctly ordered will  confirm if this is the case  and can rule out active HCV infection.

Good luck with the results and let us know...

Thanks Will... Will keep updated.it was the hep c antibodies test. Keeping my fingers crossed . I have heard that overweight people might have this result due to fatty liver and I am overweight by 45 kg, but don't drink or have ever done drugs
