We have a few similarities... very nervous... I carried C for a few years longer and started in my early 40s. Didnt have this great forum to help me out until after I treated... I am a 1a and did the interferon, ribavirin.
I am gay and have just sent you a pm.
Sorry I'm. It gay or a man....but that doesn't matter. As for where you got it? You'll never know. We all do that at first. The lucky thing is you know you have it...so you can treat it.
I took my shots on Friday night at 6pm. With two Tylenol. At ten I'd take an ambien. Sleep through it. As advocate says keep posting and asking. I've been cured for seven years now. It *****...but you can and will beat it.
Try not to worry. People respond in different ways to the meds. Some people get a cold/flu like kind of reaction (drippy nose, body aches, chills) after the shot and some people feel very little. My husband took his shot around 2 PM on Friday afternoons, because he works swing shift. It usually took about 6 hours for the side effects to kick in, and then he got home about midnight from work, so he could rest all weekend. That schedule worked well for him. I would say his side effects from Interferon were mild-moderate.
Keep posting and ask us questions. If you have side effects, someone will have suggestions for you.

hi welcome to the forum.Glad to hear you going to do tx.My hubby on wk19 of hopefully 24wk he on tripletx using teleprevir and und since wk4!. I would suggest having the jab at night time just before bed then hopefully you will sleep through most of sx. Everybody reacts differently so take each day as it comes drink lots of water and try and have a balanced diet. You might find you get very tired and moody my hubby did so i just left him in peace and ignored him when he was nasty because through info on this site i realised that it was the drugs talking not him! I wish you all the very best good luck with tx and keep us all posted
