What Causes the Nausea in Triple TX?

Yesterday I had the Interferon shot and the Procrit shot.  That was my 10th week shot. I am noticing I am feeling progressively more nauseous, although the Procrit has made breathing easier.
I dont want to take anymore prescription meds, does anybody have any natural home remedies, for this "queazy, overly full" feeling?

Thanks for your suggestions. I feel better today, then yesterday. I actuallly think the Procrit may also be constipating, as that is one of the side-effects listed. So I added some oat-bran and flax-meal, and today I am alot less bloated.

I never got nauseous when I treated with just the Peg & the Riba. The Incivek made me more nauseous than the Interferon.

I'm not sure how to know for certain in your case though since aren't you still taking the Victrelis? I was thinking if you are feeling progressively more nauseous now than in the beginning when you just took the Peg & the Riba that it could be the Protease Inhibitor.  If you are feeling the way I felt the first couple of weeks of Incivek then you must be miserable. It truly is as bad as Pooh describes. Everything is a huge hassle when you are that nauseous!

In my case antihistamines did not help with nausea. I am impressed with what I have read about Ginger and can't wait to try it. Not that I ever want to feel that nauseous any time soon.
I hope you feel feel better

I agree w Pooh. It was like mild morning sickness. Now I fight vomiting 2xs a day.. Always wRIBA. Drink water n it dilutes that stomach spasm feeling. But also causes more nausea. I can't work on Zofran because it makes me drowsy. Chamomile n ginger tea or a can of coke. Plus I snack all day n don't eat super heavy w dose. Good luck!

For me I think it was mostly the Interferon because I have been off Incivek since Dec. 18th and I still get nausea on and off. I am on Zofran 8 mg. every 8 hrs, and that works wonders, but every now and then, I still get a little bit of nausea.

Some people eat ginger candy for the nausea.

I think if you can get natural remedies and they work, that is great. But I would noty let it go on indefinitely without getting a presciption if you need one.

I think we need to remember (and the docs should know this but often don't) that the drugs are causing a systemic reaction and that is making us nauseated (or get a rash). I found that not treating the nausea was a huge mistake (I was new at treating Hep C and did not know how much I had to put up with, but my case manager should have been on top of this nausea and gotten me a prescription before I started vomiting and had to insist on a prescription). I got very, very sick physically (runs of fast heart rate 180/min., swollen ankles and feet, high blood pressure, horrible abd. bloating, nausea and vomiting). It all cleared up when I went on the Zofran, got rid of the nausea, and was able to eat again. But my point is, whatever was causing the nausea, was causing several other problems as well.

Thanks, G~  I can see the Boceprevir causing it, because it has such a bitter taste. Now I am coating the whole thing with a blueberry yogurt, it tends to come and go, like all the other annoying symtoms...I've got 18 more weeks to go, but still glad I am treating the problem~

Hi Bo: Sorry to hear of the increasing nausea.

You asked what causes the nausea. I imagine the cause is patient specific, but for me it was the protease inhibitor. I arrived at that conclusion because I was on SOC twice before and I didn't get nauseous.

I don't have any suggestions for natural home remedies. Cheers, GB
