Bleeding gums with cirrhosis

My platelets are down in the 70,000s, but my gums have increasingly bled for no apparent reason profusely. I know cirrhosis causes low platelets, but this is getting ridiculous. I use Biotene to keep my gums moist and I have had extensive dental upkeep (more in my mouth than a car), I floss not too often now as they bleed worse, use a dental pic for care, used a sonicare toothbrush, now using soft toothbrush with Biotene toothpaste. It is getting very bad.

I was in a car accident and receive blood that was tainted with hype c in  1980 I did not do drugs and did not drink that much and due to the amount of cirrhosis I have (stage 4) it was determine that's when I was infected  I tried 6 months of interf. and rybin. and went through another 9 months  of medicine until my platelets went down to 4000. I stayed in intensive care for about 10 days. I was sick as hell.I have genotype 3 so the new medicine will not work. My platele count is up to 20000. My MELD score is around 19 to 20 What a journey that I have been on. I tested my viral load and it is around a million. I AM TRYING SCALAR ENERGY NOW AND I WILL BE  TESTING MY VIRAl LOAD AGAIN RIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING.....for anyone that is interested in seeing  what the results are,I will fax a copy of my test before and after I get the results....Thanks  for reading, Billy

I would have your INR checked. I'm in the low 40's as far as my platelets go and the only time I have issues is when I'm taking supplements, aspirin etc. Best to dumb everything down as you can as far as you can especially cutting out supplements to see if it improves.

I have used all that. I started using the Biotene at their advice. I will be sitting here as like last night and for no reason they will start pouring the blood. I actually about 5-7 years ago had all my teeth veneered as they started chipping after a treatment and spent an enormous amount of money. I tried to get my 6-month dental cleaning and they bled so much they stopped because they couldn't stop the bleeding. It started bleeding again today from a different place. Terrible

Perhaps one of the ingredients in Biotene is irritating your gums. I can't use mouthwash myself or any toothpaste with lauryl sulfate or mint. I use Weleda Plant Gel toothpaste which is good for the gums, and also Chlorhexidine mouthwash. You need a prescription for the Chlorhexidine though. Good luck.
