No, I don't, Dee. The advocacy groups tend to partner with each other for different projects and programs. We have partnered with them but I don't work for them.
You are so correct. Getting the word out is critically important about drug use and hep C, as well as getting tested for baby boomers.
Good information, do you work for Project Inform?
Project inform, if they can, needs to get the word out to all the kids that are doing Heroin that they will end up with HCV.
It is on the rise, I just heard about it on the radio. There are many states where it is an epidemic. I will try to find the articles regarding this horrific news.
Thank you again for posting.
Dee
I wish I could have lunch with you but we can't go this year. It is too far and we have my 92 year old mom living with us. AASLD is worth it just for the exhibit hall where you get to talk to everyone and hear about what is going on. Also the poster sessions where the principal investigators talk about their trials. I love the "hepper Nerds".... Very clever!
perhaps I will go, haven't thought that far ahead
Although my son calls the AASLD meetings the ultimate Hepper Nerd Forum
You know, when everyone talks in acronyms and gets excited about new treatments and discoveries. All important but also make the uninitiated's eyes glaze over
Yes, we are the Hepper Nerds!
Please give me a call if you're in town. We can have lunch or a lovely nonalcoholic beverage
I absolutely love this guy. He is so good and we are so lucky to be able to partner with PI on the Help4Hep free resource line. It's kinda why I get a bit miffed when someone resents our offering it to those who may benefit. Thanks for yuor post hepcandme. Are you going to be able to attend any of the AASLD sessions this year? It will be in SF.
Andrew is the best! He often runs the support group at UCSF and he's one of those - here's my cell phone #. Call me anytime!
That's why I often recommend Project Inform for newbies. Originally an HIV organization, they already had the infrastructure to tackle Hep C. They have a 24 hour hotline (free) and are really expert at providing a wealth of resources and advice to people who are just freaking out about their diagnosis and don't know where to turn
