Ouch...this sounds so painful....I hate when I hear about people that get the rash big time like this. I'm sorry you had to go through that!!
I know people as well that did not make it to 12 weeks but did just fine.
Best wishes and I hope the healing has begun and you are more confortable....keep getting that riba and interferon down...I think your doing great:)

I'm sorry to hear your rash got so bad! We have had a few forum members who had to quit at 9 or 10 weeks due to rash, and while most of them don't yet know if they will achieve SVR, at least one has done so. I think I remember hearing from one who had to stop Incivek after only a couple of weeks, and yet achieved SVR in the end! What are your other statistics? It would help to know your viral genotype, your viral load at the beginning and at all other data points since you started treating. If you had an early viral response and achieved UND rapidly that would bode well for your chances. Other significant factors would be the condition of your liver at your most recent biopsy, whether you have previously treated, and, if so, whether you were a relapser, a partial responder, or what.

I hope your rash is being treated with steroids and by a dermatologist. All the people here who've had really severe rash problems have required steroids to get it to settle down. Otherwise it tends to keep getting worse even after quitting the Incivek. Good luck, and best wishes for SVR!

Ceanothus makes some very good points about when and how much damage as that all plays a part in SVR rates... That said they did do an 8 week trial taking Inc and the odds was not much lower then the 12 so one would guess 10 weeks would even be better........ Best to you.

The main purpose of the study was to compare the efficacy of the regimens including 8 and 12 weeks of telaprevir vs the standard of care, with SVR as the primary study endpoint. Assessment of whether the duration of therapy could be shortened in patients who had an eRVR was a secondary goal of the study. The reason for studying a shorter duration of telaprevir exposure (8 weeks) was to determine if the incidence of adverse events, specifically rash, could be reduced while maintaining virologic response. However, there was a higher rate of virologic failure in the T8PR arm compared with the T12PR after triple therapy had been completed and pegIFN/RBV alone was ongoing, and therefore, the recommended period of triple therapy is 12 weeks.
The SVR rate was higher in both the 8- and 12-week telaprevir arms compared with the standard-of-care control arm. SVR occurred in 75% of patients in the 12-week group, 69% in the 8-week group, and 44% in the standard-of-care arm (P < .0001 for the comparison between each telaprevir arm and placebo). In addition, 58% of patients in the T12/PR arm and 57% in the T8/PR arm attained eRVR and were able to truncate the course of therapy to 24 weeks.

Hi there are others on here who had to quit the Incivek at 10 or so weeks.  They continued on with the Peg and Riba and 6 months later are SVR.
I am sorry you had such a hard time.  I know how how hard it was for my husband and I.  I was not a good patient though 4 months post tx I am doing well.
I wish you the best

Hello. I do understand you. I did not stop Inc, I finished 12 weeks. I think, the rash I had, was the worst rash. My entire body (99%) was covered by rash; it was a beefy color, and burned my skin. My face was damaged the most. It was swollen, the skin was burned very bad; it looked and felled like a baked red clay. My face skin is peeling so much and so many layers,so I look a monsters from a thriller.
I hope 10 weeks were enough for you. I hope you will recover from you rash without any safer.
Best to you

I am sorry to hear that you had the rash so bad and that you had to stop Inc. at 10 weeks. But, as the others have said, you still have a very good chance of SVR, so hang in there with the other meds.

Best of luck.

I was stopped at 10.5 weeks...at 12 weeks I am still UND..my theory is when the body is finished and doesn't need a medication, it lets you know...don't worry...I bet you are UND still
