Hello and well wishes from Jim

It's been awhile, but as I clicked on the site a few minutes ago I still see many familiar faces, and of course a lot of new ones.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello and maybe catch up a little.

Honestly haven't thought much about Hep C since leaving here, but have thought about the many friends I made during what was probably the most difficult period of my life.

So how is everyone? Is GoofyDad still goofy? Is New York Girl still clobbering anyone who takes a nip? Is Rocker still pushing his supplements? Does Willing still think Telaprevir is too new to take seriously -- or maybe he was right cause I really am not up to date?

All the best,

Jim

Hi Jim hope your doing good, really nice to see your name.

You know this should be posted on the social side but on the other hand it probably best on this side. (since you mostly used to write here)

I remember your humor quite well, your a funny guy, real funny sometimes. thx for many laughs during a not so funny tx.
Now its only meki that needs to write in and say hello and everything would be just perfect!

God bless!!

I agree, it's great to see you here.  I am not on much myself.  After 30 years of dealing with HCV, I need a break.

I hope all is well with you.

All the talk about proctologists is making me think about, what else?  Gut bacteria.

Boceprevir causes diarrhea....and some of the other PI's are using Ritonavir... which causes gastrointestinal problems including mucosal erosions, epithelial barrier dysfunction, and diarrhea.

They'll have to list endotoximia as a possible side effect.

Wow this is so cool seeing so many old names - it's like the smartest test to see who is around I have ever seen before!  Very, very cool!

Jim!

I have really missed our discussions.  I could always count on you to take the opposing side...LOL

(BTW, I was right about Metformin...not only does it help prevent replication but it's also anti-cancer).

I am happy to report that CS's Tx plan worked, he SVR'd.  He presented a summary at the 7th Australasian Viral Hepatitis Conference -Melbourne 2010, on September 6th.

Abstract....

Poster....

The part on maintaining Riba concentration by keeping the hemoglobin down came from you.....and to thank you,   we made you famous ; )

We were limited to 300 words on the abstract and 2 pages for the poster so of course we argued about what to include.  I, of course, wanted the insulin resistance section to be larger....LOL.  We argued so much we have both promised never to work on a project again...LOL

Eventually, I think CS will follow you.  Me?  Hell no, I have a new project. I believe that PTSD causes chronic oxidative stress in immune nerve and muscle cells and this oxidises Vitamin B12, blocks methylation,  lowers glutathione and breaks interferon signaling.  It's the same thing the Hep C virus does.   I believe that's why it's so hard for Veterans to clear.  Now I just have to prove it...but since PTSD can also cause insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia, I know I'm on the right path....haha

It may take me a while but it'll be worth it if I can **** off the VA....LOL

(***If anybody has any interesting info on PTSD, please send it my way).

Later Jim,
